Tamāra Bujanova is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher (L3, Intermediate Senior 3) with experience dating back to 1993.
Since 2002, she has been leading Iyengar yoga classes at the Anahata yoga school and continues to develop her personal practice.
Tamāra has trained in yoga therapy and acts as a mentor to new teachers, as well as being a yoga exam assessor.
For her, yoga is not just a practice, but also a way of life and a source of support in everyday life.
Ludmila Ilyina is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher (Level 2, Junior Int. II, 2019), who has been practising yoga since 1996 and teaching since 2011.
She believes that Iyengar yoga is a method that adapts the performance of asanas to each person’s needs and abilities, making the practice effective and authentic. Ludmila emphasises that yoga aids recovery from various injuries and illnesses, as well as reduces stress and fatigue. In her view, regular practice – even just once a week – is more important than frequency; the main thing is to make yoga an integral part of your life.
Yoga became an integral part of Žanna’s life more than 15 years ago.
Since 2010, she has been systematically studying Iyengar Yoga, taking part in workshops led by leading teachers and attending RIMYI in Pune (India) in 2018.
For her, Iyengar Yoga means discipline, precision and deep work with the body and mind, developing both physical endurance and inner qualities.
Žanna believes that yoga helps to strengthen the body, clear the mind and gain a deeper understanding of oneself, and this is precisely what she strives to convey in her classes.
Evija has been practising Iyengar yoga since 2011 and has been sharing it with others since 2018. She has completed the Baltic Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Course, achieving the first level of certification. Precision, mindful presence and an individual approach to each participant are central to Evija’s yoga classes. For her, the practice is an ongoing process of personal growth and a deep source of inspiration. With respect and care, Evija supports each participant on their individual yoga journey.
Iyengar Yoga has been an important part of Ieva Tolmane’s life since 2006, bringing balance and clarity to her daily life and work. Ieva has been a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher since 2012, combining her yoga teaching with her medical profession. Yoga brings her peace, strength and a deeper understanding of the human body, complementing her medical experience. It is not merely a physical practice, but a philosophy of life that teaches mindful presence and inner freedom. With respect and gratitude, Ieva shares her knowledge, which she regularly expands upon both in Latvia and abroad.
Kristīne Mackeviča is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher (Level 1) from Riga.
She helps busy people to effectively restore their health and wellbeing.
In Kristīne’s classes, the focus is on precise asana technique, bodily balance and a personalised approach.
Under her guidance, yoga becomes a powerful tool for a harmonious life.
Kristīne Mackeviča: “I started practising yoga 17 years ago. During this time, I have tried various approaches and methods, and even experienced a few injuries, before I came across Iyengar yoga. I discovered that this method is the most suitable for me, as it has brought – and continues to bring – significant improvement and a sense of relief to my body.
I also see the positive impact of Iyengar yoga on others – it helps to alleviate the symptoms of chronic conditions and to recover from long-term injuries. This is a therapeutic form of yoga based on an individualised approach to each person, taking into account their physical constitution, and utilising additional equipment.
It is now clear to me that yoga is not just a physical activity – it is the unity of body and soul, which also helps to achieve emotional balance and inner harmony.”
Yoga offers the opportunity to be true to oneself. Not merely to be a body, but to be within one’s body, to get to know it and the conscious part that dwells within it. This changes one’s outlook on life; yoga changes one’s life.
“The light that yoga sheds upon life is special. It is transformative. It not only changes the way we see things; it transforms the person who sees them. It brings knowledge and elevates it to wisdom.” B. K. Iyengar, *Light on Life*
Although many know Inga as an acclaimed Latvian writer who has penned more than ten books, she is also a certified Iyengar yoga teacher. In her individual masterclasses, Inga finds creative ways to combine these two areas of her work. Having previously explored various forms of yoga, Inga has been practising Iyengar yoga since 2015 and regularly attends international yoga training courses in Latvia and abroad. In 2025, Inga’s Latvian translation of B. K. S. Iyengar’s yoga treatise *Light on Yoga* was published, offering readers the opportunity to explore this unique body of knowledge in Latvian. Inga is inspired by the words of B. K. S. Iyengar’s son and yogi, Prashant Iyengar, who said:
Before starting Iyengar yoga, I was used to moving my body through different activities, but I wasn’t very aware of how I was actually moving. I didn’t notice where my feet, hands or other parts of my body were in space.
Iyengar yoga taught me to pay attention to these small details. Over time, this awareness became part of my everyday life too — how I stand, walk and move.
In my classes, especially for beginners, I want to share this way of practising: learning to notice and understand your body rather than simply trying to get into a pose. Yoga also teaches us to accept that our body is different every day. Some days a pose feels possible, and some days it simply doesn’t — and that’s part of the practice too.
